A double whammy has a bright side and it is all about perspective.

Mine was horizontal.

Twist & Turn, Pivot Time

The biggest form of discipline in my life has been and still is: sports. I’ve been playing handball for nearly eight years and it kept my mind sharp and my body strong.

The least known fact about this game, is that it’s considered being the second most violent sport with a ball, after rugby. Handball is a very tactic game and it implies a lot of body contact — which is putting a lot of pressure on your ligaments when you try to twist, turn, sprint and stop.

Within the team structure, I was playing the position of a pivot.

For those who don’t know, the pivot player’s job is to try and mix things up in the defence, set picks and move in between players. If I take an honest look at myself, I couldn’t have chosen a better position. Also, the game in itself it’s a very passionate activity, filled with various spectrum of emotions.

We used to have intensive training days, followed by games and in one of them I’ve suffered an injury: partially torn my right knee anterior cruciate ligament. Later I’ve found out that my meniscus was also broken.
